Building a Better Tomorow - Stewardship

Building a Better Tomorrow-Stewardship

Wow!  What a difference a few months can make.  I went for my check up with my doctor a few days ago and I received a miserable report.  Everything that should have been “low” was “high” and everything that should have been “high” was “low”.  My doctor asked questions such as “have you…, did you…, are you…” and my answer each time was: “no”.  I came face-to-face with reality at that moment.  While I knew some areas would be “off” a little, I had no idea just how “off” my health has become.

Afterwards, as I was mulling over the results of my exam, I kept hearing the word “stewardship”.  In prayer, I asked the Lord what He wanted to say to me.  His message was simple: “Stewardship includes your health, too.”

The definition of stewardship is: “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one's care.”

The Lord is showing me that we are to take care of everything He gives us.  Since He is our source of everything, this means we are to take care of not only our health, but our finances, giftings, callings, time, and relationships.

The Lord has entrusted so much to us in order to fulfill the destinies of our lives.  We have to be at our very best so that we can give Him our very best.  Stewardship requires action.  It requires us to DO something to make it happen.  In order to be healthy, we are to take care of ourselves, eat a healthy diet, exercise daily, spend time with our friends and loved ones, and rest.  In order to have healthy finances, we are to honor the Lord in our giving, stay out of (pay off) debt, spend our money wisely, and bless others as we can.  In our giftings and callings, we are to serve His body through love, wisdom, and discernment with each individual or situation.  In order to steward our time, we need to not waste it!  What do you do during a day that is totally non-productive?  How much time are you on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.?  While there is nothing wrong with spending time on social media, if these or any other activity keeps us from doing things we know we need to do like being with our family, exercising, making or reviewing a budget, nurturing our relationships, or spending time with the Lord, we are not managing our time wisely.

We are also called to steward our relationships.  Relationships are our heart.  We are in relationship with our spouses/partners, children/grandchildren, parents, friends, and co-workers and colleagues.  All of these relationships are very important to us, however, there is one relationship that is to be valued above every other.  That is the relationship you have with Jesus Christ.  You see, many people are in “religion” with Jesus and not “relationship”.  Religion will tell you who Jesus is.  In relationship, Jesus will show you who He is through unconditional love.  All you have to do to enter into relationship with Him is to allow Him in your life, give Him time to speak to your heart, and receive all that He has for you.  Take some time to spend in His Word, the Holy Bible.  Steward your time to develop this most important relationship with Jesus!

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 4:12, “In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.” At Nana’s House Cincy, we are sincerely grateful for and appreciate every gift, donation, and resource that we receive.  We pledge to operate in a manner that makes the best use of all that the Lord provides.  We will steward the care of our mothers with their children and teach them to do the same.  Lives will be restored by learning and applying the simple principle of stewardship.

You can be a good steward by partnering with Nana’s House Cincy in a number of ways.  You can partner with us on a monthly basis with cash donations, donate new and/or gently used clothing and household goods, and partner with us by volunteering for outreach and fundraising events.  We especially need you to partner with us in prayer.

Remember, stewardship requires action.  Join us as we grow Nana’s House Cincy!  We will love to have you as a partner in our resources network and co-laborer in love.
