Don't Be Discouraged!

Discouragement. What an awful word. The very sound of it brings you down and makes you sigh.

Courage is the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous. Put the prefix “dis” in front of courage and you now have a word that means you have no ability to do something that is difficult or dangerous.

The influence of discouragement in your life will cause you to give up. To quit. To not even try to do anything that will improve your situation or that of someone else. Discouragement will cause you to become depressed and lose hope. Discouragement can make you really sad.

Don’t go there! Discouragement is a lie. It is an attack from the enemy. It is designed to keep you from the plans and destiny that God has written for your life.

How many times have you received a thought, idea, vision or Word from God in which you knew you were to do something specific? You knew it was from God. It was a good plan. It was an exciting idea. You felt good about what you heard, and you wanted to do it! You said “Yes” to what He was asking you to do!

What happens next? BAM! Out of nowhere the lies and excuses begin hitting your mind. You aren’t qualified. You can’t afford it. You don’t have the time. You don’t know what you’re doing. Who do you think you are? Are you serious??? You think He would ask YOU to do something like that??? On and on the excuses come. Finally, you give up and agree with the enemy when he says you aren’t, you can’t, you don’t, and God really didn’t ask you to do anything.

This is exactly what happened to me when I received the vision for Nana’s House Cincy. I didn’t have a clue as to how to begin, what steps to take, or how to go forward for what He has given me. I felt the Lord telling me to step into my destiny. I was overwhelmed and saw myself totally inadequate to do what He had called me to do. I listened to the voice of discouragement and believed I could not do any of what the Lord had spoken.

Over the years I would try to forget the vision. I tried to ignore what I was called to do. I tried to deny that I had heard Him. He kept the vision alive in me. He kept sending me signs, words, and reminders that “Nana’s House Cincy” was still waiting to be brought to life. Once I accepted this and came into agreement with what He wanted to do, things changed. I changed. I was able to let go of the lies and the discouragement from the enemy and then fully embraced His perfect plan for my life.

What happened next has been miraculous! I have been aligned with people who not only see and agree with this dream, but are partnering with me to help bring Nana’s House to life! People are sharing their time, talents, resources, and love with me in ways I’ve never experienced. The Lord is overwhelming me with all that I need to make His plans for me and this vision we call Nana’s House Cincy a reality. The excitement for this ministry is growing and so is enthusiasm by so many people! We have received an enormous outpouring of goods, donations, and the volunteering of time. The generosity of so many wonderful people enable us to raise funds for operations and to be able to bless others in various outreaches in our community. The bottom line is that when God asks you to do something for Him, He will provide everything you need to succeed in accomplishing all that needs to be done! All you need is the courage to step out to receive the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous. Take the first step and He will meet you right where you are. He will help you reach your destiny with all the help you need along the way.

At Nana’s House Cincy we help others overcome discouragement. We understand what it is, where it comes from, and how to defeat it. If you are fighting discouragement you don’t have to fight alone! Contact us for ministry at www.nanashousecincy.net or by email at nanashouse.cincy@gmail.com.

You’ll be blessed that you did!
