Letting Go

What are the things that cause you shame, guilt, and pain? What things do you want to let go? Is it attitudes, your past, or current ways of thinking, acting, or reacting? Many of the things you are holding onto are the very things that are making you sad, bitter, and angry.

You may be thinking that you have way too much in your past or present to even know where to begin. Letting go is a process and it won’t happen overnight. Becoming aware there are things and issues to be released is the first step.

When I was a new Christian, I was dreadfully ashamed of my past. I had so many regrets in every area of my life that I could not fellowship or make friends with the ladies of my church. The doors to my past were firmly closed and I was happy to leave everything there.

The Lord took one area at a time and walked me through the healing process. Some areas or actions were easier to release. Others were a “Nope! Not going there” response. Once you bring your past out of the darkness and let His light shine, the shame and guilt you’ve held onto and protected have no place in your life regarding your previous sin. Remember, once you confess your sin, the Word says the Lord remembers it no more. It’s as far as the East is from the West and He remembers it no more. If He doesn’t remember it, why should you hold onto it?

The Lord has a better plan for my life and unless and until I could get over my past there wasn’t any way I could receive what He has for me. I learned to let go of the guilt and shame of my past. I learned to let go of the control it had over my life.

I began to see that the Lord's way was so much better than mine. I was truly able to release my past as well as the things in my present that have been the source of so much pain. Holding onto the past made me feel like I had 2 identities. The “normal me” that everyone saw on a daily basis and the “shameful me” that was hiding in and from my past.

Rejoice in the fact that you can be free from guilt and shame! Thank Him that this isn’t the way your life will be forever. Know that you are loved, and He wants to remove all of your guilt and shame. All by simply laying down those things that are too heavy for you to carry.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Whatever you are dealing with right now, lay it down! Enjoy the freedom that comes from releasing your burdens. The Lord has solutions to everything you are dealing with.

I am excited for your journey into freedom! Please contact me if you need prayer to help you get started or to help you keep going. Don’t give up and let go of the past!

You’ll be blessed that you did!
